Each of the four parties that formed the Alliance for European Integration (AEI) will have their own candidates in the presidential elections expected to take place in autumn, Prime Minister Vlad Filat, the leader of the Liberal-Democratic Party, said during a visit to Straseni town, Info-Prim Neo reports. “Do not regard the fact that the parties of the Alliance will field their own candidates for the presidency as a problem. We are four different parties with different views. The people must have the possibility of choosing the best candidate,” Vlad Filat stressed. The president of honor of the Democratic Party Dumitru Diacov told a TV channel that it would be ideal if the AEI reached a consensus and put forward one candidate. “The AEI is a united team that once reached a compromise,” Diacov said regretfully. Vasile Balan, MP of the Moldova Noastra Alliance Party, said the party he represents considers the AEI should provide one candidate for the presidential elections. Acting President Mihai Ghimpu, the leader of the Liberal Party, repeatedly said that his party will discuss the issue only after the September 5 constitutional referendum, emphasizing that the PL has enough candidates for the presidency.
