The leaders of the Alliance for European Integration could not again reach results at the meeting of the AEI Council. Both the head of the Democratic Party Marian Lupu and the Liberal-Democratic leader Vlad Filat said the alliance will continue work, while the chairman of the Liberal Party Mihai Ghimpu said there is no wish to identify a solution, suggesting that the PDM and PLDM are to blame as they ‘have something to share’, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“The Liberal Party will not vote for a candidate who does not represent the alliance as there will be even a greater conflict. We must find the solution. There are solutions. We should only want to identify them. Every time they say that we do not have the necessary number of votes. Everyone knows this, but we must look for a solution,” said Mihai Ghimpu.
He also said that there are arguments inside the ruling alliance, but they should make effort to reach a compromise. Mihai Ghimpu stated that there are problems between the PLDM and PDM, but the PL is not their lawyer to conciliate them.
Marian Lupu said they discussed possible ways of election the head of state and avoiding early elections, but did not provide details. “From now on, everybody has their own mission. It was a positive discussion and we must continue work. But there are parentheses that can be opened and parentheses that cannot be opened,” said Marian Lupu. He stated that the invitation issued by the AEI to the Communists is still valid.
Vlad Filat said they exchanged opinions as they should have done in Parliament and the Government. “We will continue taking steps. I can give no other details, but we consider that there should be held a discussion involving all the four parties,” he said, adding that it is not much time left until the presidential elections, but it is enough.
The presidential elections will take place on November 18.
