Earlier this week, the Communist MPs tabled in Parliament two compromise proposals. The Communists' leader Vladimir Voronin said that if the AEI accepts the proposals, the further work of the Parliament will be somehow eased and the head of state could be elected. Marian Lupu said that the AEI leaders will study the two documents and decide if to accept them or not. He also said that the PCRM's proposals can be considers a first step towards the long-expected political dialogue. According to the Communists, the two proposals were to be discussed at today's sitting of the Parliament. But Marian Lupu said that they examined the documents at the meeting of the legislative body's Standing Bureau and decided to wait. Also today, Vladimir Voronin said that he received no answer from the AEI and that he heard only criticism.
