The Ukrainians deserved the liberalization of the visa regime following the work done by the government in Kyiv, which had to carry out over 100 measures required by the European Union, Mihail Harishin, adviser on consular affairs at the Embassy of Ukraine in Chisinau, said in a news conference, quoted by IPN.
According to the adviser, the June 11 decision on the liberalization of the visa regime with the EU is a historical event for the European course of Ukraine. “The visa-free regime with the EU wasn’t a present. Ukraine made effort and met 104 conditions and reforms go on so that we swifter join the European family from which we were excluded without our will 350 years ago,” stated Mihail Harishin.
In the same news conference, Hungary’s Ambassador in Chisinau Mátyás Szilágyi said that Hungary and Ukraine have nice historical relations. Hungary makes effort to implement more humanitarian projects in Ukraine so that the bilateral relations develop in the best way possible. A number of 700 children whose parents died in the armed conflict in Ukraine will vacation in Hungary this summer.
Mátyás Szilágyi also said that during ten years of its foundation, the Common Visa Issuing Center of the Embassy of Hungary in Chisinau provided consular and visa services for Moldovans and for Ukrainians who settled in Moldova. “We do a lot to ensure the European integration perspectives of Ukraine and Moldova in a more concrete future, which is an important desideratum for us,” stated the diplomat.
Now that the visa requirements were abolished, the Ukrainians will be able to travel in the EU visa free, without the right to work, for a period of at most 90 days during half a year.
