Adrian Paunescu’s bust on Classical Writers Alley

The Academy of Sciences of Moldova proposes placing the bust of the Romanian poet of Bessarabian origin Adrian Paunescu on the Classical Writers Alley, near poet Grigore Vieru’s bust, Info-Prim Neo reports. The draft decision was submitted to the Government on November 9. According to the Academy, the initiative is supported by Minister of Culture Boris Focsa and academician Mihai Cimpoi, who heads the Writers Union of Moldova. The Academy says Adrian Paunescu’s bust should be set up on the Classical Writers Alley on the Language Day (August 31) next year. Earlier, Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca asked that a Chisinau street be renamed Adrian Paunescu. The poet, publicist, politician and ex-senator Adrian Paunescu passed away on November 5 at the age of 67.
