The dialogue between Moldova and the United States has intensified and is rising to the level of a strategic dialogue. As regards the interaction between Moldova’s Parliament and the U.S. Congress, the dialogue is now at the highest level ever, Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu was quoted by IPN as saying in the talk show “Reply” on Prime TV channel.

According to the Speaker, they make effort to intensify the dialogue with the U.S. state administration on several fundamental pillars, such as security and defense, infrastructure, trade, business environment, energy infrastructure, education and civil society. “Next week, when I will travel to Washington, there will be launched an economic platform, a Moldova – United States business council. For the first time, businessmen from the U.S. will combine forces to promote investments in the Republic of Moldova or the investments from the Republic of Moldova in the U.S.,” stated the official.

Andrian Candu said there was a period when the strategic groups between the two states held practically no meeting, especially those that deal with energy, education, infrastructure, defense and security. “There were different people and different times. It is yet definite that the U.S. Embassy in Chisinau is making considerable effort and our team in Washington is also endeavoring to do more. We diversified things a lot both at the level of the Government and at the level of Parliament,” noted the official.

As to the relationship with Romania, Andrian Candu said the Republic of Moldova tops Romania’s priorities, alongside the roles of the EU and NATO for the neighboring state. “The Republic of Moldova has always been a priority for Bucharest and, no matter what parties are in power and who holds particular posts, from the Presidential Office to the premiership, including the Royal House, they are with their thought and heart near the Republic of Moldova. Romania has always provided special, permanent support for Moldova,” concluded the Speaker.
