In his speech, Igor Dodon said the PSRM’s history is divided into three stages: I stage – struggle for Parliament (2011-2014), II stage – stay in the harsh opposition in Parliament (2015-2016) and III stage – neither in the opposition nor in power, when the President was left without powers (2016-2019). The challenges that appeared in the period strengthened the party politically.
Igor Dodon noted that 2020 was one of the most difficult periods, with drought and pandemic. But the West mobilized against President Igor Dodon. Despite all the difficulties, the PSRM managed to build a powerful team where decisions are taken as a result of discussions at which the party members state their opinions. Now the PSRM has 37 MPs, over 20 district heads and more than 200 mayors, including the mayor of the municipality of Chisinau.
Socialist MP Corneliu Furculiță said the Socialists can obtain 52-53 seats of MP in the snap parliamentary elections and can seize power under the rule of Igor Dodon. “We are glad that he returns to the party with new strength. Under the management of Igor Dodon, we will obtain this result and will not have to divide power with anyone. We will manage the country in the name of the people,” Corneliu Furculiță stated in the congress, noting the party and the Socialist parliamentary group proved that they are ready and consolidated and can reply to any political opponent in Parliament and outside it.
