The administrator and production director of the cannery based in Mereni village of Anenii Noi district were sentenced to 9 years and, respectively, 8 yeas and a half in jail for swindle and falsification of public documents, IPN reports.
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, in 2008 the culprits deceived 21 employees of the cannery, making them take out loans from the Mereni savings and loan association and give them the money for investing it in the factory.
The prosecutors also established that using the personal data of 16 residents of Cobusca Veche village, from which they rented land, the factory’s administrator and production director forged their signatures and obtained loans of 2.3 million lei from the same association in their name. They used this money for personal purposes.
The culprits were also obliged to pay damages to the victims. The sentence can be appealed to a higher court.
