Acting mayor of Chisinau Ruslan Codreanu fired the whole administration of the municipal enterprise “Central Marek” only two months after this was appointed. The decision was taken after sellers complained that exorbitant taxes for working on the territory of the market continue to be levied there, IPN reports.

Ruslan Codreanu told a news conference that he transmitted the complaints to the anticorruption officers and the Ministry of the Interior. “The Chisinau City Hall is not an inspection body to be able to check the accuracy of data and the accusations formulated in these complaints. Without the involvement of the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Ministry of the Interior, we will be unable to solve the problems that have persisted at the Central Market for years,” stated the acting mayor.

He added that as of June 24, the Central Market will be managed by new persons, but he didn’t give names. Also next Monday, an audit will be performed into the enterprise’s activity of the last few years to determine the costs, revenues and collected taxes. The enterprise has debts of 60 million lei that are to be settled by the municipality.

Ruslan Codreanu also said that the agenda of the next meeting of the Chisinau Municipal Council includes a draft decision on the creation of the Administration Board of the Central Market that would control the enterprise’s work.
