The Cabinet proposes Parliament to ratify the agreement for financing the Danube Transnational Program 2014 -2020. Under the agreement, financial assistance will be offered to beneficiaries of a number of states, including Moldova, in the form of a grant from the European Neighborhood Instrument, IPN reports, quoting a Government decision.
Among those eligible for assistance are the local and national public authorities, NGOs and education institutions. The activities that will be financed are aimed at promoting innovations, the transfer of knowledge and support for entrepreneurships in the Danube region, increasing energy efficiency, conserving natural and cultural heritage, developing safe and durable transport systems. The activities to implement the EU Strategy for the Danube Region will also be supported.
Of the €5 million provided to Moldova, €4.5 million is designed for financing projects, while €0.5 million are technical assistance costs. The beneficiaries that will implement the given projects will make a contribution of 15%.
