The risk criteria in the area of anti-fire protection were reviewed by the Government, IPN reports, quoting an amendment made by the Cabinet to its own decision of May 27, 2014.

Under this decision, the inspections by the state supervision bodies to see how the anti-fire rules are respected will be planned based on the total area of the inspected facility. The larger the area, the greater the probability is that the fire will cover the whole area of the construction, generating large-scale fires and causing dangers for the people's health and lives and considerable damage.

The Ministry of the Interior, which proposed the amendment, set the risk degree of 5 points for the facilities with an area larger than 500 square meters, of 4 points for those whose areas vary between 301  and 500 square meters, of 3 points for those varying between 201  and 300 square meters, of 2 points for those with the area of 101  to 200 square meters and of 1 point for those whose area is under 100 square meters inclusive.

Minister of the Interior Oleg Balan said now that the risk criteria were reviewed, the state anti-fire measures supervision bodies will have an efficient, clear and transparent mechanism for planning and carrying out inspections at enterprises. According to him, it's time to impose requirements concerning the building materials and elements used in construction so that these meet the European and international norms and ensure increased protection against fires.
