The electoral bloc ACUM DA PAS does not accept the Party of Socialists’ invitation to have a dialogue and discuss the formation of a parliamentary majority. In a press briefing, the leaders of ACUM reminded that before the elections all the bloc’s candidates for MP signed a public commitment, promising they will not form alliances with oligarchic and anti-European parties. Time has come for this commitment to be respected, IPN reports.
The president of the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” Andrei Năstase said the Democratic leader Vlad Plahotniuc and the informal leader of the PSRM Igor Dodon, by the invitations made to the bloc ACUM, try to hide the alliance between them and the negotiations they have held since before the elections. Plahotniuc and Dodon decided to hypocritically use the bloc ACUM as a first option and to then formalize the obscure coalition or to together decide to induce snap elections so that these are held simultaneously with the local elections, putting the election rigging mechanisms of the mixed electoral system into practice.
According to Andrei Năstase, ACUM will not enter this perfidious game by which the power is traded and divided as those who controlled and intend to further control Moldova for them and their groups of interests want. If the bloc ACUM does this, it will definitively and irrevocably disappoint the people. “The MPs of ACUM will not negotiate principles and values, the vote obtained from people and Moldova’s future,” stated the politician.
The leader of the Party “Action and Solidarity” Maia Sandu said the adoption of a set of bills to free the state institution from captivity, to establish the rule of law and build a democratic state is the best solution in the created situation. The MPs should adopt a statement by which to admit that Moldova is a captured state. Other legislative proposals that they will introduce refer to the adjustment of the legislation concerning the dismissal of the prosecutor general, the administration of the Security and Intelligence Service and members of the Central Election Commission, the National Anticorruption Council, the Audiovisual Council, the National Integrity Authority, the Supreme Court of Justice and other institutions.
Maia Sandu noted the bloc ACUM will also propose annulling the mixed electoral system and forming three parliamentary commissions of inquiry. One commission will investigate the banking fraud and would oblige the National Bank to present the Kroll 2 report. Another commission will determine the consequences of the implementation of the law on capital amnesty and the third commission will investigate money laundering operations. The MPs should realize that it is now the moment to show that they really represent the people’s will. They should overcome fear and get rid of the blackmail of oligarchic groups and decide in the country’s interest.
In the February 24 parliamentary elections, the PSRM won 35 seats of MP, the Democratic Party – 30 seats, the electoral bloc ACUM – 26 seats and the Shor Party – seven seats. Three independent candidates also entered Parliament.
