The political bloc ACUM is proposing a joint working group with Parliament Socialists to discuss, until April 25, legislative measures for “de-oligarchization of the state and for improving people lives”, before eventually calling snap elections. This was stated by ACUM co-president Andrei Năstase after a convention of the bloc.
ACUM has delegated to the potential group MPs Oazu Nantoi, Mihai Popșoi, Sergiu Litvinenco, Alexandru Slusari, Chiril Moțpan and Igor Munteanu.
According to Andrei Năstase, the bloc is still waiting for the Socialist Party to formally pledge that no coalition would be formed with the Democrats now or in the future.
MP Sergiu Litvinenco said that ACUM’s proposed measures to be discussed in the joint group included the replacement of the Prosecutor General with an independent professional, and the dismissal of public functionaries caught campaigning during working hours. ACUM will also seek to repeal the Citizenship for Investment Law and to amend legislation regulating the dismissal of CEC members and of the National Bank governor.
Maia Sandu, the bloc’s other co-president, stressed that the proposal to have a joint group shouldn’t be taken to mean a coalition with the Socialists. It’s only “to understand if the PSRM is willing to participate in the de-oligarchization process by endorsing (ACUM’s) package of laws”. Sandu reiterated that the bloc was not interested in office allocation and was ready to take the responsibility of leading a minority government.
