The electoral candidate on behalf of the bloc ACUM Ion Terguță in single-member constituency Nisporeni filed a challenge to the Central Election Commission (CEC) by which he demands to remove the leader of the Democratic Party Vlad Plahotniuc, who runs in the same constituency, from the electoral race.
In a news conference, Ion Terguţă said the Election Code and the CEC’s regulations concerning the method of filling out subscription lists were violated when Vlad Plahotniuc was registered as an electoral contender by the district electoral council, IPN reports.
The challenge is based on a video of the PDM Forum held in Nisporeni district at the end of last December that was placed by the Democratic Party on www.youtube. According to Ion Terguţă, the video shows how the campaign to collect signatures in favor of Vlad Plahotniuc was actually conducted. A number of persons stayed with the subscription lists in front, while the signatories waited in a line and provided the identity cards for having the data from these included in the lists. An interesting thing is the fact that the leader of the PDM Vlad Plahotniuc is the only candidate registered as an election runner with all the signatures valid even if the series and number from the identity cards of persons who signed were absent from some of the subscription lists.
Asked by IPN to comment, the spokesman for the PDM Vitalie Gamurari said this is not the first time that the parties try to build an image and obtain a better electoral score by making accusations against the PDM. The decision to register the candidate is the most relevant argument against such accusations.
