The actor of the National Theater “Satiricus Ion Luca Caragiale” Mihai Curagau received the Order of the Republic in gratitude for his special contribution to developing and propagating theatrical and cinematographic art and to promoting the cultural values and artistic skillfulness, IPN reports.
The 71-year-old actor has devoted 50 years of his life to the theater. Mihai Curagau was born in Balanesti, Nisporeni. After graduating the faculty in 1964, he was employed at the Music-Dramatic Theater “A.S. Pushkin”, today the National Theater “Mihai Eminescu”. In 1993, he transferred to the Theater “Satiricus” in Chisinau.
The actor made his debut in film in 1967, at “Moldova-film” Studio. He starred in Gheorghe Voda’s movie “A guard is needed”. He then played parts in another almost 20 films.
Mihai Curagau was awarded the Prize for the Best Second Men’s Role (Mache Razachescu in “D'ale carnavalului” by I.L.Caragiale) in the 2004 UNITEM Awards Gala. He was also conferred the title of People’s Artist.
