Actor Boris Bechet died. Funeral set for April 9
Update/4:35pm/ The body of actor Boris Bechet will be laid at the Theater “Alexei Mateevici” in Chisinau in the morning of April 9. Those who want to bid farewell to him can do it starting with 10am. At midday, the coffin will be carried to the Central Cemetery on Armeneasca St, where the funeral will be held.
(Initial news article) The famous theater and film actor Boris Bechet passed away. The emeritus artist of the Republic of Moldova, a Laureate of the State Award, Boris Bechet was 68, IPN reports.
“It is a day of profound sadness for the world of theater and cinematography in the Republic of Moldova. The brilliant film and theater actor Boris Bechet died. He was admired by a whole country for the transforming force of his talent that gave birth to unforgettable characters, for his excellent sense of humor and caustic irony. He was a man who, in all his roles, managed to offer the characters uniqueness and greatness,” President Maia Sandu wrote in an obituary.
On a social networking side, actor and theater director Petru Hadârcă wrote that the death of the man of art Boris Bechet left a wound on the map of this spring without scruples, an irrecoverable gap in the souls of thousands of admirers. “We render the last homage to a man who devoted himself to art. Condolences to his wife Margareta Nazarchevici, sons Ion and Grigore, relatives and close ones!”.
Boris Bechet was born in Vadul Leca village of Teleneşti district on February 7, 1953. In 1975, he graduated from the Institute of Arts, the Faculty of Acting. He worked for the Bălţi National Theater “Vasile Alecsandri” (1977-1985) and the Chisinau Theater “Alexei Mateevici”. He played over 50 roles in plays and stared in multiple films, cooperating with film directors Vasile Pascaru, Nicolae Ghibu, Boris Conunov, Valeriu Gagiu.
Boris Bechet was one of the founders of the independent studio “Media SDB”. He made 15 documentaries.
