A number of Chisinau NGOs defending the rights of animals without shelter called on the Municipal Council to set up a joint commission consisting of representatives of the municipality and of activists of the NGO sector. In a public debate, they asked that the relevant daft decisions should be discussed and adopted, IPN reports.
In this connection, animal rights activists demanded examining a draft decision of the Chisinau Municipal Council, which provides creating conditions for the work of an animal shelter. They pleaded for observing certain norms concerning the catching and transporting of dogs and for participating in their euthanizing.
“A number of videos showing animals without shelter being tortured or euthanized by employees of the competent body were posted on social networking sites. We want to cooperate with “Autosalubritate” in sterilizing the animals without violence. I think we can be more competent than they,” said Victor Poleacov, activist of “AOVA”.
