A protest in support of the suspended Prosecutor General Alexandr Stoianoglo, who was arrested on October 5 on four charges, is being mounted at the Ciocana District Court, where the prosecution’s requites for a 30 days’ preventive arrest warrant against Alexandr Stoianoglo is being examined. The protesters chant: “Freedom for Stoianoglo!”, “No to dictatorship!”, IPN reports.
Activist Pavel Grigorciuc said Alexandr Stoianoglo should be reinstated. He expressed his concern about the lack of transparency in the actions taken against prosecutors, noting he fears something like this can happen in relation to any person.
The leader of the Movement “Antimafie” Sergiu Mocanu said that Alexandr Stoinoglo was arrested because he came the closest to a denouement in the bank fraud case. Those who are behind Maia Sandu injected millions to see Stoianoglu arrested.

Another BCS MP Grigore Novac said they are witnessing the subjugation of the prosecution service.
Attending the protest, Cristian Rizea, former Romanian MP who was convicted in Romania for acts of corruption, said Alexandr Stoianoglo is the chief mobster of the mafia from the justice sector and he will soon provide evidence through his social networking channels. He was driven away by the protesters, who chanted “Down with the Mafia!”
Five BCS MPs submitted to the Chisinau Court a guarantee letter with the required bail transferred to the court’s account as a personal guarantee for releasing Alexandr Stoianoglo. Under the law, the personal guarantee as a preventive measure is accepted on the written request of the guarantors and with the consent of the person who is to be bailed. On the presentation of the written guarantee, each guarantor simultaneously transfers a sum of 2,500 to 15,000 lei to the deposit account of the Prosecutor’s Office or of the court.
