Activist Fiodor Ghelici, who heads the Public Association “Moldova Mea”, has been arrested. The information was confirmed for IPN by his son Serghei Ghelici. According to him, his father’s arrest is a political order.
In a communiqué, the Border Police says that prosecution officers of the Border Police Department, in cooperation with representatives of the Prosecutor General’s Office, on October 11 carried out a number of activities aimed at annihilating a criminal group dealing with trafficking in human beings and in children. A number of searches were performed at the homes of persons involved in this case.
The investigations go on. No other details were made public.
Earlier, Fiodor Ghelici told a news conference that the police suspect him of trafficking in persons through the organization that he heads. He requested President Nicolae Timofti to intervene.
