The Government’s action to assume responsibility for four bills before Parliament is over. The 72-hour period during which the MPs could propose a motion of no confidence expired on July 12, Prime Minister Ion Chicu stated on July 13, being quoted by IPN.

After the working meeting with President Igor Dodon and Parliament Speaker Zinaida Grechanyi, Premier Chicu said no such a motion was submitted. “The procedures will continue today. The four bills must be signed in
Parliament and remitted to the President for promulgation. I hope these bills will be promulgated this week so that we could start to implement them,” stated the official.

He also made reference to the application filed by the vice president of the PPPDA Igor Munteanu to the Constitutional Court, by which he asked to interpret the article that regulates the assumption of responsibility by the Government before Parliament. “We will see how things develop, but I hope a lot that these bills that are so needed by the people and the economy will take effect and will be implemented, while the political interests of some of the citizens will remain only interests and will not affect the people’s expectations,” noted Ion Chicu.

Igor Munteanu on July 11 requested the Constitutional Court to explain if a Parliament sitting for the assumption of responsibility by the Government can be held if the first sitting failed because of a lack of quorum or if the absence of most of the MPs from the presentation of the assumption of responsibility can be considered refusal for debating the program.
