Acting prosecutor general Dumitru Robu requested to lift the legislative immunity of Șor Party MPs Ilan Șor and Marina Tauber. Such requests were made at the start of the May 19 siting of Parliament, IPN reports.

Speaker Igor Grosu read the acting prosecutor general’s applications by which it is requested to allow lifting the parliamentary immunity so as to detain, arrest, search and bring the persons to justice.

Marina Tauber is featured in two of the applications, while Ilan Șor in another two applications. These invoke the Penal Code articles “money laundering” and “swindle”.

The applications were transmitted to the Parliament’s commission for appointments and immunities. “The request is to agree a day, hour when to convoke the commission, to invite the MP and the prosecutor in charge of the case and to come with a report to Parliament,” stated Igor Grosu.

In the previous legislatures, both Marina Tauber and Ilan Șor were stripped of parliamentary immunity. The latter was convicted by a court judgment that is not yet final. The MP didn’t attend any of the sittings of the current legislature.
