Acting President asked to pardon six female detainees

Prosecutor General Valeriu Zubko submitted an application to Acting President Mihai Ghimpu, asking pardoning six women held at the Rusca Penitentiary, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the Prosecutor General's Office, the six detainees served a part of their sentences and the crimes committed by them do not pose a threat to society anymore. The circumstances that preceded the offenses and the women's behavior in prison were also taken into account. “Basing on the principle of humanism of the criminal law, the Prosecutor General's Office continues to use such practices towards other categories of persons as well,” it is said in a communique from the institution.
