Acorex Wine Holding is launching the collection “Albastrelele” on the domestic market. The collection includes the white wines Sauvignon Blanc, Blanc de Cabernet, Pinot Grigio and the red wine Lancellotta. These wines are successfully exported to such countries as Sweden, Belgium, the Netherlands, and the UK, the company’s director Serghei Borets said in a news conference, Info-Prim Neo reports. The dry wines of the collection have won 25 medals and prizes at prestigious international contests. Sauvignon Blanc was included in the list of the best wines sold in the UK. “The previous days, we received good news from Sweden. We won the tender contest held by the Swedish authorities and will thus export a large quantity of Sauvignon Blanc wine to Sweden,” Serghei Borets said. The company has thoroughly prepared the launch of the collection “Albastrele” on the home market. “We hope the mentality of the national consumers changed, they became more mature and are now ready to switch to a new wine assessment level,” the director of Acorex Wine Holding stressed. Speaking about the crisis that hit the Moldovan wine makers, Serghei Borets said there are a number of economic and political reasons. According to him, everything started after the 1990s, when it was considered that a bottle should be sold for a low price. Neither the producer nor the distributor cared about the content of the bottle. They also did not care what the consumer thought. Things became different after 2000. Many producers changed their attitude. Serghei Borets highlighted two problems that the Moldovan wine producers should solve – to restore Moldova’s image as wine maker at European and world levels, which was seriously affected after Russia imposed the embargo in 2006, and to invest more money in marketing, particularly in creating and developing original brand names. He said that the Government and other authorities should organize different events to promote the wines. “Moldova turned from a wine country into a country that consumes vodka. We will easier overcome the crisis if the population consumers wine of a high quality and develops a wine culture,” he stated. Acorex Wine Holding was declared insolvent and is now repaying its debts gradually. It kept its specialists and production capacity. The winery plans to increase sales by this yearend. Its vineyards occupy an area of over 3,000 hectares in the southern region Cahul. The company’s bottling capacity is 30 million bottles a year.
