Representatives of the Moldovan Employers Ferrous and Nonferrous Metals Recycling and Collection Association said that after the so-called case of “Metalferos” was started, the company founded and managed by Valentin Eșanu is the only business entity that works unrestrictedly on the scrap market. According to them, Eșanu raised the purchase price of scarp and opens new scarp collection points and this shows that his business develops, while his actions, including the open letter to a number of officials, is aimed at making a victim of himself and at misleading public opinion.
In a news conference at IPN, the president of the Moldovan Employers Ferrous and Nonferrous Metals Recycling and Collection Association Ion Drăniceru said the so-called Metals Employers Association led by Valentin Eșanu does not represent the ferrous and nonferrous scrap market players. The Moldovan Employers Ferrous and Nonferrous Metals Recycling and Collection Association represents the interests of all these players and has about 20 companies as associates.
“The so-called association (Metals Employers Association) was founded by three enterprises, one of which was founded by him, one that is managed by his brother and another one that is managed by another person. These companies are controlled and managed from behind by Valentin Eșanu,” stated Ion Drăniceru.
According to him, Valentin Eșanu, the so-called key witness in the case of “Metalferos”, who openly says that he is persecuted and intimidated, including by companies involved in this case, declares himself and is declared a politically persecuted person, including by the prosecution bodies. Valentin Eșanu misled officials, including foreign ones, and, as a result, these safeguard his interests, considering him innocent. “All his actions to appear as a persecuted person, including politically, had an effect and he achieved his goal. So, how can a person be declared political prisoner when there are clear proofs provided by state bodies showing that he committed offenses?” asked Ion Drăniceru.
He also said that Valentin Eșanu, by his actions of 2013-2017, caused damage of about 12 million lei to the state budget, according to the fiscal bodies. With enormous debts to the state budget, Valentin Eșanu is considered the key witness in a resonant case. Moreover, he was freed from liability in all the cases in which there is evidence of his guiltiness.
