The authorities assure that all the national roads are now passable, but seven villages of three districts are still blocked owing to the snowdrifts, IPN reports.

According to the State Road Administration, the access to the villages Chircaiesti, Florica and Plop of Causeni district, Marianca de Jos and Copceac of Stefan Voda district and Doina and Alexanderfeld of Cahul district remains blocked.

The head of Stefan Voda district Nicolae Molozea has told IPN that the access roads to the two villages cannot be unblocked because the snowdrifts reached 4 meters in height in parts. The given villages are located in the steppe zone of the district and they permanently face natural disasters. “However, all the schools and lyceums resumed work. All the children went to classes today. Electricity is supplied and the situation normalized,” he stated.

The Border Police said the border crossing point Soroca-Tsekinovca, on the border with Ukraine, was reopened. But the traffic at the checkpoints Tudora-Starocazacie, Saiti-Lesnoe, Ceadar-Lunga-Novye-Troiany and Cismichioi-Dolinskoe is obstructed because of the impassable roads in Ukraine. The situation there will return to normal when the Ukrainian authorities clean the access way to and from these points.
