The access by ferryboat to a number of localities of the Cocieri plateau could be barred in winter owing to the layer of ice that forms on the Nistru River. In this regard, alternative access ways should be identified. The subject was discussed during the first visit paid by the Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Olga Cebotari to Dubăsari district, IPN reports.
There were also discussed the free movement and access ways to and from the given localities - Molovata Nouă, Roghi, Cocieri, Vasilievca, Corjova, Măhala and Dubăsari town - the problem of access ways given the presence of the checkpoints that were set up illegally by representatives of Tiraspol and the method of ensuring the free movement of persons, goods and vehicles.
Olga Cebotari also met with the manager of the state-run company ÎS “Bacul Molovata” Vitalie Gațcan. They discussed the necessity of reopening the routes of an additional ferryboat so as to increase the transportation capacity and to modernize the port and transport infrastructure.
In a press release, the Reintegration Bureau noted that attending the discussions, the head of the Chisinau Local Office of the State Chancellery Veaceslav Anghel assured that he will personally become involved in the solving of problems related to the provision of amenities for ferryboat passengers.
According to the Bureau, the number of passengers and of units of transport that crossed the Nistru with the ferryboat increased significantly. In the first half of this year alone, the number of passengers and of vehicles that used the ferryboat rose by 12,000, while the volume of freight grew by 23,000 tonnes to almost 70,000 tonnes.
The first visit by Olga Cebotari to localities in the Security Zone was paid on the invitation of the mayor’s office of Moldova Nouă village to mark the completion of two projects financed through the agency of program of country reunification activities for 2020.
