The consumers who use water filters must obey the utilization requirements. Otherwise, these become a local source of pollution of running water, warn specialists of the public utility SA “Apa-Canal Chisinau” (ACC), IPN reports.

In a press release, the company says most of the consumers who install filters do not regularly wash, disinfect and replace them when time comes.

When consumers ask to verify the quality of drinking water, specialists of ACC’s lab take samples of water from the centralized water supply system and of filtered water. The lab tests show the water in the centralized system meets the norms, while the filtered water, in some cases, is slightly more turbid and contains more microbes.

The supplier says that in the process of treating drinking water, it filters water through beds with zeolite and activated carbon load. These are the best fileting and absorbing materials. They are washed daily and are regularly replaced.

If the level of turbidity is slightly higher, the situation can be remedied by washing, replacing or removing the filter. If the content of microbes is higher, the situation is more difficult. According to “Apa-Canal Chisinau”, the supplied drinking water, going through a complex treatment and continuous monitoring process, is an inoffensive source and can be drunk safely.
