ACC signs contract to modernize about 55 km of water pipes

SA “Apa-Canal Chisinau” (ACC) has signed one more un contract to rehabilitate about 55 km of water pipes under the 1b Package of the program to develop water supply and sewerage services in the municipality of Chisinau. The program to the value of about €61.8 million is financed with money from the European Investment Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the EU Neighborhood Investment Facility, IPN reports.

According to ACC, the contract was signed on January 22 with the French company SADE-Compagnie Generale de Travaux d’Hydraulique, which won the international tender contest. The contract envisions the replacement of the existing water supply network and connections to the multistory blocks in the residential areas of Chisinau municipality, with diameters ranging from 50 mm to 300 mm, on an estimated length of 52 km, and also the replacement of about 3 km of individual connections alongside the network rehabilitated within this package.

In a press release, the water supplier said that under the signed contract, ACC will ensure the fulfillment of the contractual obligations within 540 days. The planned works were assessed at about €6 million.

SA “Apa-Canal Chisinau” director general Veronica Herta said the given project is not at all easy, but is necessary and implementable. “I hope we will have successful cooperation relations that will enable us to create as few inconveniences as possible to end-users,” she stated.

The representative of SADE-Compagnie Generale de Travaux d’Hydraulique assured that the projected works will be executed as planned, without deviations, even if there are particular challenges. According to him, results will appear only if team work is ensured.

At the end of last July, there was signed the 1a Package to rehabilitate about 84 km of water pipes.
