The public utility SA “Apa-Canal Chisinau” (ACC) said it identified a number of unauthorized connections to the municipal water supply and sewerage network and warns the population that this favors the pollution of drinking water and poses threats to health. So far this year, the company identified 130 cases of unauthorized connections.
The almost 2,000 cases of irregularities discovered by the company include the violation of the protection areas of the water supply and sewerage network, unauthorized removal of the water meter, destroying of seals and water leakages.
The ACC said it submitted 244 contravention reports to the administrative commission of the Rascani district head’s office and 190 of these were already examined. Fines of 141,000 lei were imposed based on these reports. The other reports are being examined.
The water supplier calls on the consumers to honor their obligations related to the use of water supply and sewerage services and to voluntarily pay the bills on time.
