Employees of Apa-Canal Chisinau SA (ACC) work in an emergency regime to fix all the branch lines and communications damaged by frost, the water supplier says in a communiqué, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. On February 3, the specialists used two electrical installations to unfreeze the metal water pipes in Chisinau’s Riscani district and repair them. According to engineers of Apa-Canal Chisinau, most of the frozen pipes belong to private houses and offices and they were damaged because the technical norms when using or building them were not respected. The company’s deputy technical director Vitalie Midari called on the housing stock managers to take all the measures needed to protect the pipes, basements and meters. He stated the water pipes and meters must be insulated as they may get frozen, especially at night. Owing to the very low temperatures, about 200 branch pipes in the private sector had iced up over the last two weeks. Over 50 of them were fixed, while the others are being repaired. In case of emergency, the consumers are asked to call the company’s Central Dispatcher’s Office on 256-666.
