About 800 employees of SA Apa-Canal Chisinau (ACC) took part in a festive meeting held at the National Philharmonic on December 18 to celebrate 120 years of the putting in commission of the first water supply system. Approximately 50 veteran employees with a length of service of 15-20 years at the ACC received diplomas of honor from the Government and the Chisinau City Hall, Info-Prim Neo reports. Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca said that the ACC is the municipal company with the longest activity. It went through critical periods, but is now in a better situation. “As they said earlier, we cannot live without water and air. The water is life and I often say this,” he stated. SA Apa-Canal Chisinau director general Constantin Becciev said that the company’s history was built with the devotion of a professional community that was administered by an exceptional managerial team. The water supplier underwent a continuous modernization process aimed at ensuring services of a high quality for those connected to the municipal water network. Among the company’s successes, Constantin Becciev mentioned the extension of the water networks from 1,350 km in 2000 to about 2000 km. In April, the ACC managed to replace the chlorine used to treat the water with a more efficient disinfectant – sodium hypochlorite. Within the festivity, singer Doina Sulac and the band “Catharsis” gave a concert. SA Apa-Canal Chisinau employs about 2,000 persons.
