The inhabitants of the capital city and other interested persons during three weeks were informed about the quality of water supplied by SA “Apa-Canal Chisinau” (ACC) within the campaign “Created by nature, supplied by us”. A number of 1,000 bottles of water of the ACC brand and leaflets were distributed during March 1-22. On March 18 and 22, those who wanted could test the quality of the water they drink at a mobile lab in the central park of Chisinau “Stefan cel Mare si Sfant”, IPN reports.

In a summing-up news conference, ACC director general Veronica Herta said the Open Doors Day is staged at the company’s wastewater treatment station on the last day of the campaign given that World Water Day is celebrated on March 22. Those interested can familiarize themselves with the water purification processes.

Veronica Herta noted the company’s website will have a new interface as of March 22. The consumers will be able to find out all the planned disconnections and the experienced accidents. The move is aimed at ensuring an efficient communication with end-users.

Elena Vasiliu, head of the ACC drinking water lab, said persons from Chisinau and other regions of the country came to test the quality of water in the central park of the capital city on March 18. There were examined over 270 samples of water from different sources such as wells, bottled water, filtered water, etc. “These were from different sources and their quality was different too. The surface waters, for example, contain less salt, while the local spring water and water from artesian wells have higher salinity. There are cases when the admissible levels are exceeded,” stated Elena Vasiliu.

Head of the ACC Quality and Control Department Arcadie Rusnac said the supplier daily determines the sanitary and microbiological parameters of water. The people should know that the water in the municipal water pipeline meets all the norms and is fit to drink.

World Water Day is an annual event celebrated on March 22. The day focuses attention on the importance of universal access to clean water, sanitation and hygiene facilities.
