ACC announces contest for membership of TRM Observers Council

The Audiovisual Coordinating Council announced on Wednesday, November 29 the contest and criteria for the membership of the Observers Council (OC) of “Teleradio-Moldova” Company. At the first stage, 24 candidates will be selected based on CVs. Subsequently, 18 files will be submitted for the Parliament’s consideration. The deputies will have to appoint 9 members to OC. The candidates must submit all the necessary documents until December 8 to ACC, which will announce on December 13 the names of the 24 candidates selected, and on December 15 it will select 18 candidatures to be presented to the specialized parliamentary committee. According to the Audiovisual Code, the OC members must be public persons, with specialization in different fields, such as arts, cinematography, journalism, law, financial management of enterprises, public relations etc. As well, the members must speak Romanian and have a clear criminal record. Initially, 3 members will be appointed for a period of 2 years, 3 for a mandate of 3 years, and 3 – for 4 years. Among the competences of OC are the confirmation to the office of TRM president and director of national radio and TV station, approval of Company’s statute and agenda of activities. The former OC included 15 members, who were appointed by the Presidency, Parliament, Government, trade unions etc.
