Representatives of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova called upon the inhabitants of the municipality of Chisinau to support the Liberal Party’s candidate Dorin Chirtoaca in the second round of the mayoral elections. The call was published on the Academy’s website, IPN reports.
The calls says that the second round of voting on June 28 is a very important event for the capital city amid the distressing events witnessed now and this event will significantly influence the country’s future and its European destiny.
“We consider that Dorin Chirtoaca is the most suitable candidate for the post of mayor general of Chisinau municipality. During the two consecutive terms in office, he showed himself to be a good mayor and promoted our spiritual and moral values as well as culture and science, which represent the real image of the city and the country in the world. The republic’s fate and the fate of our children depend on the capital city’s fate,” says the call.
The people of science consider the victory of the Party of Socialists’ candidate Zinaida Grecheanyi would represent the second coming of the Russians. “We call on you to take part in the elections as each vote counts. With Dorin Chirtoaca, we will be at our home. With Dorin Chirtoaca, we will be in Europe. God help us all”, reads the call.
In the first round of the mayoral elections on June 14, Dorin Chirtoaca and Zinaida Grecheanyi polled by 37.52% and, respectively, 35.68% of the ballot.
