Academician Valeriu Rudic became Doctor Honoris Causa

The Title of Doctor Honoris Causa of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy (UMF) “Nicolae Testemiteanu” was recently conferred on Academician Valeriu Rudic, director of the Institute of Microbiology and Biotechnology of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova (ASM), by UMF Senate. According to ASM press service, Academician Valeriu Rudic demonstrated outstanding achievements in his 35-year activity as professor and scholar. Rudic’s researches in the field of phycobiotechnology are well-known and appreciated. Valeriu Rudic is the author of about 800 scientific works, including 6 monographs, 26 didactic works, and 12 textbooks. He holds over 200 patents of invention, awarded at numerous international invention fairs and shows. The collection of inventor Rudic includes 133 gold, 31 silver and 23 bronze medals, obtained in Brussels, Pittsburgh, Geneva, Iasi, Sofia, Casablanca, Zagreb, London, Bucharest, Manila, and Moscow. A remarkable achievement is the registration of 11 medical products. Valeriu Rudic is the chair of the Microbiologists Society of Moldova, president of scientific councils specialized in awarding scientific doctor degrees and doctor habilitate in Microbiology and Biotechnology. The academician’s activity was honoured with 11 orders and international medals, he is twice the laureate of the Prize of the World Intellectual Property Organisation, laureate of the State Prize in Science, Technique and Production of Moldova, holder of “Labour Glory” Order, of the “Dimitrie Cantemitr” medal, of the title Merited Person of Moldova.
