Academia Chisinau surprisingly eliminated from Moldova Cup

The 1/16 finals of the Moldova Cup produced the first suprise as the top echelon club Academia Chisinau were eliminated by Dinamo-Auto Tiraspol. The second tier team won 3-2, Info-Prim Neo reports. Three other National Division teams had no problems in getting past weaker sides. Speranta Crihana Veche bested Division B outfit CF Rascani, score 3-1. FC Costuleni obtained a similar victory against Saxan Ciadir-Lunga, while last year’s runners-up Rapid Ghidighici defeated Intersport-Aroma Cobusca Noua 3-0. The other results of the round are Sf. Gheorghe Suruceni – CF Locomotiva Balti 1-2, FC Cahul-2005 – CF Sparta 4-0. The 1/8 finals will be played on October 30 and 31, when the other 8 teams from the National Division join the competition, including league champions Sheriff Tiraspol and cup holders Milsami Orhei.
