Truth is stranger than fiction

Remains just a “technicality” – to actually build it

The group of non-governmental organizations that has committed to promote the construction of the Ungheni-Chisinau-Odessa highway, as an extension of the Romanian Târgu Mureș-Iași-Ungheni highway, calls on the Chisinau Government to declare the project as a national priority. The project was supported in Bucharest and Kiev, in the European Parliament, the European Commission and at the headquarters of the European Investment Bank.

Pay taxes and sleep tight

Almost 70% of the number of state checks carried out in 2018 were unannounced and only 30% - planned. "The dissatisfaction of the people with the control bodies is very high, " said the Secretary General of the Government Andrei Spînu. He demanded that from next year the checks be conducted in an organized way, with the purpose of informing and not sanctioning.

Just a little but to many

Finance Minister Natalia Gavrilița announces that 2020 budget, which the Government has called the "solidarity budget", not only provides for increases in salaries, pensions and allowances, but also envisages more possibilities for the local public authorities, a higher percentage of the income tax on both individuals and legal entities. The "solidarity budget" also envisages an increase in compensations for the cold season from 350 to 500 lei for 400 thousand pensioners with low incomes. In addition, compensations for veterans of the Dniester conflict and war veterans in Afghanistan will be increased from 100 lei to 300 lei per month. Salaries are to be increased from 6% to 10% for all employees in the budget system.

Windows  is to blame

After the media wrote that Veaceslav Soltan, while being head of the Information Technology and Cybercrime Combating section of the General Prosecutor's Office, allegedly managed a procurement tender for Windows operating system for the PG's computers and the version of the operating system was different than the one indicated in the specification, Prime Minister Maia Sandu asked the Commission for the selection of the candidate for the Prosecutor General position to urgently verify the information and to consider the possibility of re-evaluating the short list.

They want rules, not schemes

Chairman of the Parliament's Economy, Budget and Finance Committee, Igor Munteanu, has filed a complaint with the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office requesting criminal prosecution against the officials and ex-officials involved in the "land acquisition scheme on Sprâncenoaia str., No. 1, Chisinau municipality.” He has specified that the Government's intervention by assuming responsibility for taking over a land plot passed on to Balti Free Economic Zone (ZEL) in 2018, brought damage to ZEL, but also to foreign investors, who expect clear rules in the legal area and stability, necessary for business activities in the Republic of Moldova.
