IPN Flow Synopsis for November 6, 2019

Would Mrs. Thatcher do the same?

The government has assumed the responsibility for amending the Law on the Prosecutor's Office, so that the prime minister will be responsible for pre-selecting the candidates for the General Prosecutor's Office. Prime Minister Maia Sandu said that the changes made in September this year did not generate the expected results of choosing an honest and courageous prosecutor.

The Socialists stressed that the bill of the PAS leader "flagrantly violates the agreement signed between the ACUM bloc and the PSRM, which clearly stipulated that in the context of justice reform, the selection of the General Prosecutor will be carried out via contest, by a commission, not by a politician".

Is it a competition or a joke?

Minister of Justice, Olesea Stamati, stated that she would issue an order cancelling the result of the competition for the position of Prosecutor General. According to the Socialists, the minister has assumed political responsibility for the results of the contest and, under these conditions, it means that she must resign.

Strike while the iron is hot

"The Socialists felt ACUM bloc's moment of weakness caused by the loss of Chișinău City Hall and is playing political hardball. However, it is not excluded that they really wish to infiltrate the executive branch either by breaking up some ministries or in some other way", mentioned expert Ion Tăbârță

PD wants to be again at the helm

Andrian Candu says that PDM is ready to discuss with any political party and form a new parliamentary majority as PDM wants to govern so that it can serve citizens and continue to deliver good results.

Who is making common cause with whom?

The 2020 budget will be a solidarity budget. This means that salaries and social benefits will increase for most public employees, social assistance programs will be extended. In this respect, the amount of aid offered during the cold period of the year will increase from 350 to 500 lei. Also, a new electricity payment support program for low-income pensioners will be implemented.

When one plus one makes one

Andrei Năstase maintains that the party led by him will opt for the ACUM bloc to have only one group in the Chisinau Municipal Council. According to him, at the level of the two parties, PPDA and PAS, no final decision has yet been made in this regard.
