The financial assistance provided to beneficiaries of international protection in 2017 will represent 795 lei a month, which is 15% of the projected average official salary (5,300 lei), IPN reports, quoting a draft decision that is to be approved by the Cabinet.
The decision was drafted in a move to fulfill the commitments assumed by Moldova in this regard, including by the Association Agreement. These stipulate that the beneficiaries of international protection are entitled to financial assistance within the financial possibilities of the state if these, for objective reasons, lack sources of livelihood.
The non-reimbursable assistance is provided during at most six months from the allocations given to the Ministry of the Interior for this year.
To benefit from financial assistance, the person must file an application to the competent authority dealing with foreigners. Each application is examined individually. During the last few years, 70% of the applications were accepted.
It should be noted that only five applications for financial assistance were filed in 2016, as opposed to 53 in 2015. Only two of these were accepted
