The managers of the dwelling fund with the metrological support of “Apa Canal Chisinau” JSC (ACC) have verified so far the condition of the water meters in about 25 thousand apartments in Botanica district of Chisinau. The check-up found that 80% of the meters were not verified in time, meaning that they were working with their verification term expired, PR manager of ACC Mihai Golban said. In this respect, the owners received directions from the service suppliers.
The verification allows the service supplier to find the meters which do not work properly and to stop the illegal use of water. At the same time, the company checks the veracity of the data presented by the consumers. Mihai Golban said that the supplier of water continues to register significant losses because of the volume difference between the meters installed in the apartment blocks and those installed in the apartments, difference which is not paid by the managers of dwelling fund and which is caused by the frauds committed by a part of consumers. The losses of the supplier in this case amount to millions of lei, including in March – MDL 2.8 mln, and during the entire period it totalled about MDL 130 mln.
The persons in charge from the company assured that the verification process of the meters in Botanica district will end in the first half of June. The control of the meters in those over 200 thousand apartments in Chisinau is planned to be finished by the end of this year.
The verification of meters in the apartments was solicited by the managers of the dwelling fund and the General Communal Department of the City Hall at the end of January 2007 and is carried out with the metrological support of “Apa-Canal Chisinau” JSC.
When the installation process of the meters started, the metrological verification term of the meters was set at 2 years, but due to the decision-makers this period was prolonged to 5 years for household consumers.
