Head of the Operational Service of the State Road Administration Sergiu Căpățână said only 470 or 80-82% of the 518 snowplows meet the technical norms. Of the about 50 installed surveillance cameras, only 35 work at present and these enable to see the state of the roads in real time. The data were presented in the talk show “Issue of the day” on Canal 2 channel, IPN reports.
Sergiu Căpățână said the institution has 35,000 tonnes of antiskid material and this is enough for a month and a half. The figure rises because the specialized enterprises “Drumuri” (“Roads”) need both sand or detritus and technical salt, in accordance with the norms set down by the State Road Administration.
According to him, the State Road Administration has the necessary antiskid material and equipment to clean snow from the roads in the nearest future.
Director of the Chisinau road maintenance company “Exdrupo” Adrian Boldurescu called on the citizens to show understanding when they see vehicles that clean the roads and spread antiskid material, to be more careful in traffic and to equip their cars according to season. He noted the company is ready to cope with the current situation.
