About 70 young LP members left the party

About 70 members of the young wing of the Liberal Party (LP) left it, as they are displeased with the dictatorial methods of the party and of the nepotism promoted in the party. Several former members of the LP told a news conference on May 21 that they do not want to be used, marginalised, intimidated, and thrown out from the party, Info Prim Neo reports. According to the former member of the Party, Vasile Costiuc, the leadership of the LP, especially its president, Mihai Ghimpu, created a dictatorship environment, because all the decisions are made by him without consulting the Standing Bureau or the active members of the party. According to Costiuc, even the lists with the candidates for the local councillors were made by Ghimpu. According to the cited source, Ghimpu is not interested in promoting young persons. They are useful only during the electoral campaign in order to stick posters and campaign for LP candidates. They say that due to the massive involvement of the youth in the previous election campaign, the LP candidate for mayor accumulated a considerable number of votes, which, according to the cited source, will not happen again on June 3, because a great part of the young persons do not want to get involved in this activity. At the same time, Costiuc said he is indignant at the fact that the LP candidate did not support the young person who joined the party “only for his sake”. For his part, the former member of the Standing Bureau of LP, Vasile Boboc says that a statement addressing voters will be disseminated across Moldova. It will announce that there is a great difference between the official statements of the party and its real actions; that the leader of the party accepts only obedient persons, the rest being ignored or even thrown out of the party. Vasile Boboc says that neither the Standing Bureau nor the Ethics Committee are operational bodies. According to Boboc, the lack of a transparent dialogue is proved by the list of candidates for the office of local councillors worked out by Ghimpu. As a confirmation is the list of the LP candidates for the councillor office in Durlesti town, composed to a great extent of members of the Democrat Party or even of the Party of Communists, Diana Crudu, the former leader of the youth organisation from this town said. According to the cited sources, 80 percent of the LP members are young persons. At the moment, 68 left the party, but the number of displeased persons is higher, the cited sources say, specifying that those who want to leave the party are threatened with “problems at school”.
