About 6,000 guides intended for parents working abroad and specialists dealing with minors who remained at home alone

One in three children in Moldova remained at home without the parents, said Cezar Gavriliuc, the head of the Child Rights Information Center of Moldova. About 6,000 guides have been issued to support the parents going abroad to work as well as the authorities as part of the project “Interinstitutional Crossborder Cooperation in the Protection of the Rights of Children at Home Alone”, Info-Prim Neo reports. “Through the agency of these books, the trained professionals will know how to act in different situations and how to behave towards these children, will cooperate with the teachers and psychologists in order to help the parents and their children,” Cezar Gavriliuc says in a communique. Guides for parents and specialists, brochures and posters have been distributed to the district social assistance and family protection services, education divisions, community centers and youth resource centers, general social assistance and child protection divisions, school inspectorates, the police departments in Vaslui, Iasi, Botosani (Romania) and Calarasi, Telenesti, and Falesti (Moldova). The project was initiated by the Child Rights Information Center and the Social Alternative Association. It has a budget of 150,000 euros and is financed by the European Union and the Government of Romania through the Romania-Moldova Neighborhood Project.
