About 60 consumers in Chisinau asked for the assistance of specialists of SA “Apa-Canal Chisinau” (ACC) after water branch pipes and meters got frozen following the low temperatures. In a press release, ACC says that despite the repeated recommendations and warnings, 44 cases of freezing of water meters and 13 cases of freezing of water branches were recorded in the municipality of Chisinau, IPN reports.
The supplier recommends the consumers to take the measures required to ensure the protection and physical intactness of water meters and basements of apartment buildings against frost. The supplier reminds the apartment building managers of the necessity of thermally insulating the access ways to internal water supply and sewerage networks.
To avoid accidents and useless costs, the water branch pipes and meters should be insulated with special material and only water meter readings should be left open. Under the legislation, the consumers are obliged to carry out these works.
