There are currently 102 authorized placement centers for refugees operating in Moldova, with a total capacity of 9,245 beds, 4,270 of which are occupied (46%), the Moldovan Government said in a press release.
Of the 102 placement centers, 49 have been created by the district authorities, 16 by the Chisinau authorities, 19 by educational institutions, 10 by non-profit organizations, 4 by state-owned enterprises and 2 by town halls.
Since February 27, 147 batches of humanitarian aid have entered Moldova, weighing a total of 1,088 tons and evaluated at 103 million lei. The main donor countries are Germany, Romania, Italy, Switzerland and France. Three-quarters of the batches were received by nongovernmental and international organizations. The Moldovan diaspora contributed with 9 batches weighing a total 21.4 tons.
The Government allocated 5 million lei to the Ministry of Social Protection and 21.3 million lei to the local authorities for running the refugee centers.
