Nearly 500 cases of branch and tree falling following the snowfall have been reported in the capital city by 2pm on April 20. Some of the trees were rooted up. The downed trees damaged electric power lines and trolleybus lines of the Chisinau Electric Transport Company. Some of the quarters remain without power, IPN reports.
According to the Chisinau City Hall, several streets were blocked by trees that fell on the roadway. A number of 600 employees of the Green Areas Association, response teams of the Chisinau Emergencies Division, of the lighting company “Lumteh” and power supplier RED Union Fenosa were mobilized to deal with the consequences of the tempest.
The Chisinau municipality calls on the citizens to avoid walking through the city given that trees and branches as well as snow from buildings can fall.
To inform about downed trees or other consequences of the weather, the citizens are asked to call on 022-22-22-67; 022-22-26-04; 022-21-27-98, 901 and 902.
