About 3500 hectares of agricultural plots damaged by last week’s rains

About 3500 hectares of agricultural lands were damaged by the hail rains and strong wind of the last week in the central districts of Moldova. According to the Department of Exceptional Situations, the hail storms damaged the lands of the collective and particular farms. In the villages of Romanovca and Poian of Ungheni raions 124 ha of corn, sun flower, vineyards, and vegetables plantations were destroyed. The total damage is estimated at 750 thousand lei. In Calarasi district 1753 ha of agricultural lands were harmed, in Telenesti – 931 ha, in Orhei – 635 ha. Cruzesti village of Chisinau municipality was significantly damaged. 6 km of local roads were destroyed in this locality; the roof slate of the kindergarten was damaged as well as the walls of two houses. At the moment, a commission for exceptional situations continues to evaluate the damages in the affected localities.
