About 164 thousand disabled persons to observe the International Day of Disabled Persons in Moldova

About 164 thousand disabled persons from Moldova will observe the International Day of Disabled Persons on December 3.
According to the statistics, almost 25 thousand persons have disabilities of 1st degree, almost 114 thousand – 2nd degree, and over 25 thousand – 3rd degree. 12.808 of theme are children aged up to 16.
According to the sources from the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, the state makes significant efforts to promote the interests of these persons. They benefit from nominative compensations for electricity bills, as well as an annual compensation for gas expenses, repairs, car maintenance etc. The person having disabilities of 1st and 2nd degree, children up to 16 and the person who take care of a disabled person benefit from compensation for travels in the urban, suburban and interurban transport, and the war veterans and invalids benefit from free tickets for auto and train transport in the CIS countries.
The aged persons with disabilities are offered free of charge, once in three years rest tickets in the Republican Centre for the rehabilitation of disabled persons and pensioners “Speranta”, Vadul lui Voda town and “Victoria” from Sergheevca, Odessa region. At the same time a network of 36 social-medical rehabilitation centres is created in the country and 21 shelters for disabled persons are working at the moment.
This year, the republican fund for social support of population allotted MDL 9.1 mln to the local funds dealing with social support of population in order to offer material support to the underprivileged persons.
