The secondary vocational education institutions were unable to fill about 1,600 places, over 1,500 of which are budget-funded. According to the Ministry of Education, most of the unfilled places are in industry, agriculture, and the construction sector. An additional admission session will be held on August 28-30 to fill the vacant places, IPN reports.
The largest number of budget-funded places proposed for the additional session in vocational schools is available for such jobs as seamstress, plasterer, carpenter, and tractor driver. The lowest number of such places is provided for the profession of builder.
According to Deputy Prime Minister of Education Loretta Handrabura, the preliminary data show that the enrolment rate in secondary vocational education institutions increased compared with the previous year by 4 percentage points to 86%. In the first admission session, there were accepted over 10,000 people.
