About 130 persons in Transnistrian region to get free prostheses

Approximately 130 persons in the Transnistrian region will benefit from free prosthetic procedures this year. The administration in Tiraspol allocated about 8 million Transnistrian rubles for performing these procedures and for purchasing prostheses, IPN reports.

The local press quoted the health authorities as saying that about 130 persons had prostheses implanted in Ukraine or Russia last year. This year, the prosthetic procedures will also be performed in these two countries and the citizens could choose one of them. The beneficiaries also have the living and travel costs covered.

Also, 30 wheelchairs for persons with locomotor disabilities are to be purchased this year at a sum of 1.5 million Transnistrian rubles allotted from the earmarked about 8 million rubles. The wheelchairs will start to be distributed in the middle of the year.
